每一类活动都会有多种表现形式，比如理解。通常情况下我们要求学生用英语回答问题展示他们的理解，其实如果只是展示理解，学生完全可以用图片、行为表演等，甚至可以用汉语回答。再如推理性活动，可以让学生直接回答What can you infer from...？我们同样可以给出推论让学生选择等。但是，为了适应学习者的多元需求，教材二次开发中有必要设计多层次活动。以《大学英语精读2》Unit 2 Lessons from Jefferson为例，我们可以设计如下推理训练活动。一般教师都会设计Activity 1，但是，我们同样可以给出结论让学生从文章中找证据，还可以给出原文与结论让学生匹配。
