隼形目，鹰科
体长：约60厘米；体重：1 000～1 200克
俗称“老鹰”“岩鹰”。它们有黑色的耳羽；翱翔时两翅平伸，翼下有一块大的白斑；尾部较长，略成凹状。它们主要捕食鼠、兔、蛇、昆虫和小鸟。黑耳鸢在大树和悬崖峭壁上筑巢，每年4月产下2～3枚蛋。小鸢要孵化40天左右才能破壳，再经过40多天的哺育才能离巢飞翔。由于其飞行姿态平稳，人们把风筝也叫“纸鸢”。

隼科Falconidae
隼科鸟类多为中小型猛禽，钩嘴短而有力，上嘴两侧还长有齿状突起，以防猎物滑脱。它们两翅长而尖，尾长而窄，很像有后掠翼的喷气战斗机。它们飞行迅速，喜欢直扑猎物，用强劲的嘴和利爪置猎物于死地。其他鸟儿一发现隼的身影就会立即大声鸣叫互相提醒逃离，但一些勇敢的鸟儿,如乌鸦会追着它们飞，迫使它们离开。
隼科鸟类的初级飞羽分不出像手指一样的羽毛尖端，也不像鹰科鸟类爱在空中盘旋翱翔，这使得人们很容易将它们和鹰科鸟类区分开来。
