学生根据学习情况自主阅读报纸并积累知识

【摘要】:素质教育的宗旨是教育面向全体学生。笔者以学生的接受能力、学生的兴趣为根据,帮助学生自主选择,并不是武断地按照教学内容来选择。(二)教师指导学生做阅读积累笔记为了使学生学有所获并能真正有实效,笔者指导学生边看报纸边做阅读积累。教师每周检查学生的阅读积累笔记,并以此来监测学生的阅读情况和进程。而教师就是要成为培养学生自主学习能力的启蒙者、指引者和激励者。

学生根据学习情况自主阅读报纸并积累知识

素质教育的宗旨是教育面向全体学生。面向全体学生并不是一刀切,而是面向每一个有差异的个体,充分培养个性。根据学生的特点来激发每个学生的学习热情,是培养他们自学能力的一个重要手段。英语的阅读理解,费工费时,讲解难度大,处理得不好,不仅枯燥无味,而且出力不讨好。因此要充分利用选材上的优势来满足不同层次学生的兴趣。笔者根据学科特点,为学生订了《英语周报》《21世纪学生英文报》(Teens)等报刊,大大扩大了学生的知识面,培养了学生课外阅读能力,使英语阅读在课堂外得到有效实践。

(一)教师指导学生进行阅读材料的选择(设定目标、摸清学情)

1.教师指导学生选择适合自己阅读程度的版本

大部分教师都是基于自己的选择进行教学,而很少顾及学生的学习风格、学习方式、学习条件等,这一现象致使很多优秀教师在课堂的努力不能全面转化为学生的学习效果;但如果把自主权交给学生,使学生有了选择的可能,就能提高学习成效。

因此,笔者在学生刚进入初中时对学生的阅读能力进行三次摸底测试,并与学生面谈以往的英语阅读经历,依据学生的成绩和学习经历指导学生选择适合自己的阅读版本,而这个版本可根据学生的阅读情况每两个月调整一次。

2.教师指导学生选择适合自己阅读程度的阅读内容

在指导学生读报时,由于报纸内容多、信息量大,不是每一篇都适合学生阅读,而且学生不懂得选择性地对阅读材料进行分类,所以教师的帮助是必要的。笔者以学生的接受能力、学生的兴趣为根据,帮助学生自主选择,并不是武断地按照教学内容来选择。每期报纸笔者都会分为课上讲解篇目、课后必选阅读篇目、课后选读篇目三个部分。

(二)教师指导学生做阅读积累笔记

为了使学生学有所获并能真正有实效,笔者指导学生边看报纸边做阅读积累。教师每周检查学生的阅读积累笔记,并以此来监测学生的阅读情况和进程。为了培养学生的自学能力,阅读积累需包含以下内容:

每天积累5个常见生词;

每天积累5个与现阶段写作话题相关的好句子或句型;

每天精读一篇自己感兴趣的篇目,归纳出文章大意,并写出自己对这篇文章的感受;

每天安排两名学生在课前准备,课上将上述积累内容进行课件展示;

指导学生登录《21世纪学生英文报》的网站,查询“测试空间”栏目的练习答案和相关期刊的课件。

然后是课后阅读、积累、总结、思考阶段(交流分享:搭建平台)。

自学能力是学生在已有的知识水平和技能的基础上,不断独立获取新知识并运用这些知识的能力。而教师就是要成为培养学生自主学习能力的启蒙者、指引者和激励者。社会在飞速发展,科技日新月异,知识是“教”不完的。今天的学生,只能靠今后的终生学习才能不落伍。难怪有人说,21世纪的文盲,不是不识字的人,而是不会自学的人。

(三)报刊阅读课的课时安排

笔者每周六课时,每节课都会请两名同学进行读报演讲。每个单元都会补充报纸或杂志上的阅读文章以补充教材阅读量不够的不足。通常选用《21世纪学生英文报》和《空中英语教室》。

1.学生阅读展示内容

通过每天的课件展示,同学之间互相学习、取长补短。课件上的内容要求如下。

篇目名称;

该篇目中常见生词的用法讲解及例句;

学生喜爱的与现阶段写作话题相关的句型和美文美句;

比较难理解的句子的翻译;

模仿新闻播报;

该篇目的主旨大意;

学生自己的读报感受、所思所想;

假如我是某个栏目的编辑,我会……

做报刊阅读展示的同学可以从以上8条中选择其中几条进行展示,也可以组织班级其他同学提问,还可以组织讨论。

Mrs.Smith accepted Susie's kindness and took it one step further.

Ⅳ.Main idea

Susie was told by her mother to care for Mrs.Smith,who just lost her daughter.And she childishly gave her a Band-Aid for her broken heart,which symbols great care and supports between neighbors.

V.My feelings

Just as the saying goes:“A near friend is better than a relative.”The love from our neighbors is worth treasure.Sometimes,what motivates us greatly might be just as little as a smile,so,why keep it for yourself?Just remember the best way to keep love is to give it yourself.

On the other hand,children may teach us.The childish love and care they gave will surely impress us deeply with the rare purity.

(四)报刊阅读展示的改进

随着课程改革的深入,在报刊阅读学习和展示的过程中,笔者也在不断反思并改进。例如,从2014年开始,笔者指导学生在展示过程中绘制思维导图,并按照思维导图复述所读报纸文章的内容,以便学生进行交流。即便是没有看过该文章的学生,也能通过同学对思维导图的复述明白展示内容,并进行交流。

下面是节选自Teens(期号为602)初一版的三篇文章以及笔者所做的思维导图。

Passage 1 Building better toilets

We all use it every day.There is one in nearly every home.What is it?The toilet.A person will spend three years on the toilet in his or her life,the World Health Organization said.It's a big part of our everyday life.

To make toilets in China cleaner and better,the Chinese government carried out a“toilet revolution(革命)”across the country starting in 2015.

Over the last two years,the government spent 20 billion yuan to build or renovate(翻修)i 68,000 toilets in tourist areas,Xinhua News Agency said.

Last month,President Xi Jinping said our country should do more to renovate these toilets—not only in cities,but also rural areas(农村).

The government plans to build big,clean toilets in rural homes—more than two square meters large.The toilets will have walls,roofs,doors and windows.They may be flush toilets or dry toilets with underground storage tanks.

Clean toilets for rural people are important for building a“new countryside”,President Xi said.

Passage 2 An obstacle in our path

There once was a very rich and curious king.This king placed a big stone in the middle of a road.Then,he hid nearby and waited to see what would happen.

The first people to pass by were some of the city's richest businessmen.Rather than moving the stone,they simply complained and walked around it.

Next,a farmer came along.His arms were full of vegetables.When he got near the stone,the farmer put down his vegetables and tried to move the stone to the side of the road.It took a lot of effort,but he finally did it.

The farmer picked up his vegetables and was ready to go on his way.Then he saw a bag on the road where the stone had been.The farmer opened the bag.The bag was filled with gold coins and a note from the king.The king's note said the gold coins in the bag were a reward for clearing the road for everyone to use.

The farmer could have easily passed by the stone like everyone else.But he chose to be selfless and move the stone for others.And for this,he got a reward.

Passage 3 Enjoy a smarter future

How will the internet change the world?Will we enjoy a smarter(更智能的)life in the future?These are hot topics these days.The fourth World Internet Conference(世界互联网大会)took place in Wuzhen,Zhejiang,from Dec.3 to 5.Many of the world's biggest internet companies took part in it.They talked about how to build a future for our online world.The internet can make our lives easier in many ways.The companies at the conference showed us some of their newest technology(技术)..Here are some examples.Let's take a look.

Lip reading

Machines can not only read faces.They can also read your lip movements.The Chinese internet company Sougo has made lip reading technology.You don't need to speak aloud.The machine turns your lip movements into voice or text.

This could be very useful if you are in a noisy place and people cannot hear you on your phone.Police can also use this technology.Sometimes they see criminals(罪犯)on city-monitoring(城市监控)cameras,but they don't know what they say.The lip reading technology can help with this.

Smart shoes

Your feet might hurt if your shoes do not fit you.This won't happen if you wear“smart”custom-made(定制的)shoes.The Xiemofang company brought a machine to the conference.The machine scans your feet.It records 39 parts of your feet.It even records how long each toe is.It also has a database(数据库).The database has more than 10,000 kinds of shoes.You can choose the color and style.It also gives you suggestions for your choices.The suggestions are based on records of other people's feet.You can get your new shoes after 10 days.

Unmanned supermarkets

You walk into a supermarket,pick out your goods and go to check out.But there is no clerk.There is just a tablet(平板电脑)that says“please smile”.When you smile,it gives you a discount.Your money goes from your Alipay account to the supermarket.You don't need to do anything.The Alibaba company has made this supermarket.When you go into the supermarket,it recognizes your face and your Alipay account.It also recognizes your facial expressions.So it knows how much you like your goods.The supermarket not only makes shopping easier.It also understands you.

从以上报刊阅读展示课件中,我们可以看到报刊阅读是学生英语知识综合运用的体现,阅读教学是为帮助学生完成这一“从知识向能力过渡”“从被动向日趋自主”进行转化的实战。自主高效的阅读能力需要培养和训练,教师只有通过研究学生的认知特点和阅读技巧,才能制定切实可行的阅读教学方法,英语教学才能达到素质教育的目的,为学生的终身发展奠定基础。
