目前就单一城市的高层建筑数、人均空间密度、交通流动量等数据来看，上海都堪称世界级城市。作为世界级特大城市的上海一直在努力探索，未敢停歇。这里列出的仅仅是上海在城市公共安全运行方面探索成果的一小部分，但涉及的几个关键词让人难忘：高层建筑火灾防控关键技术、大客流聚集安全风险监测、地下交通隧道安全疏散技术、城市内涝预警、水源地水质预警、水库藻类预防控制……上海从曾经一场大火可以烧掉数十户人家、一场暴雨可以令十几条马路水漫金山、一次交通事故能让周边路段交通瘫痪的窘境到如今父母官可以运筹帷幄、指挥若定，老百姓们能实时获得各种预警信息，城市运行越来越井然有序。这一切都拜科技之赐、管理之赐、创新之赐，但最根本的还是有赖于未雨绸缪之心，有赖于每一位城市管理者每时每刻如履薄冰的责任心。
