与府河交会的鹿溪河古称赤水河，源于上游龙泉山山涧溪水中裹挟着大量泥沙，导致水色赤黄。奔流到现今黄龙溪时，与清澈的锦江水相遇，清、浊分明，水势涌动好像巨龙潜江，当地百姓形象地称为“黄龙渡清江”，黄龙溪也由此而来。黄龙溪官堰、陈家水碾、古佛堰等多处水利工程构成了一个庞大的科学用水体系，造就了黄龙溪优良的生态环境和人居环境。(www.xing528.com)
The Luxi River, which meets with the Fuhe River, was historically known as the Chishui River. The river originates from the creeks of the Longquan Mountains, so it carries a lot of sediments, with a reddish yellow color. When it flows to today’s Huanglongxi ( literally Yellow Dragon Stream ), it meets with the clear Jinjiang River. The clear and muddy flows contrast and mix with each other, rushing on like a huge dragon swimming in the river. The locals vividly call this spectacle “a yellow dragon crossing a clear river”. The stream Huanglongxi derived its name for this reason. Multiple water conservancy projects including the Huanglongxi Guanyan Weir, Chenjia Water Mills and Gufo Weir constitute a huge, scientific water system, creating the favorable natural environment and living environment in Huanglongxi.
